Grass Seed

Our most popular seeds are turf-type fescues Champion 3+3 and Jaguar 4G.  Turf-type tall fescues have a narrower blade than K-31 tall fescue, a deep green color, and are more durable during hot summers than Kentucky Bluegrass

Stock of K-31 Fescue, Creeping Red Fescue (shade grass), and Kentucky Bluegrass may be limited.  Please call for availability before coming to purchase.

Seed is a bulk item which we can bag into any quantity needed.  The more you buy, the lower your price per pound.  Seed is shipped to us in 50-pound bags that offer the best price point.

Champion 3+3
Champion 3+3 Turf-Type Tall Fescue Grass Seed

Champion 3+3 is our best-selling grass seed.  This blend of six turf-type tall fescues is formulated for Midwestern lawns and is known for its dark green color and finer texture.  Champion 3+3 can handle full sun to partial shade, tolerates high traffic and has a higher drought tolerance than some other grasses.  Germination usually takes 10-14 days.

Turf-type fescues need to be seeded at a rate of 4 to 5 pounds per 1000 square feet when overseeding, or 8 to 10 pounds per 1000 square feet when bare seeding.  Overseeding an acre would require approximately 217.8 pounds of seed.  Bare seeding an acre would require approximately 435.6 pounds of seed.

Jaguar 4G
Jaguar 4G Turf-Type Tall Fescue Grass Seed

Jaguar is a premier turf-type tall fescue that has been popular in our area for decades thanks to its dark green color, finer texture and tendency to form a dense turf.  Jaguar can handle full sun to partial shade, tolerates high traffic, has a higher drought tolerance than some other grasses, and provides heat and disease resistance.  Germination usually takes 10-14 days.

K31 Tall-Type Fescue
K-31 Tall Fescue Grass Seed

K-31 is a deep-rooted bunch grass that is good for erosion control on roadsides, pond dams, or pastures.  Because it is native to Missouri, K-31 can provide a hardy turf for our area.

For most lawns, people prefer the turf-type fescues, such as Champion 3+3 and Jaguar 4G.  K-31 is less favorable because the grass blades are broader and do not have the dark green color of the turf-type fescue lawns.

K-31 is ideal for full or partial shade, has high traffic tolerance, and is drought and disease resistant.  These traits make it more suited for areas that are not as well maintained as a home lawn.  Germination usually takes 10-14 days.
